This year’s Leading Ladies theme is about trailblazing women who have led the way, who have become modern muses, role models for women and girls alike, by making a change, looking adversity right in the eye and are not afraid of having those difficult conversations to uplift others.
For those of you who might not know Chelsea Bonner or her incredible story and trailblazing work with body image and diversity in the fashion industry, through Bella Management she is a fierce female role model, down-to-earth, compassionate and a force to be reckoned with.
It is all these elements that make her a Leading Lady not just in her industry but for all women and girls who have struggled with self-esteem and loving their body.
Chelsea makes her goal quite simple- to change the perception of beauty in the fashion and entertainment industry around the world, through her agency Bella Management.
Starting her own agency at 28, she has been labelled a disruptor for daring to shake up the fashion industry and challenge the conventions of what we consider beautiful.
Chelsea started her career in fashion as a teenager, working as a junior agent. She went on to work at Melbourne’s top modelling agencies, later managing agencies in Melbourne and Sydney and also modelled plus size fashion.
Bella Management was born in 2002 in Chelsea’s spare room. There was no fancy office, no glossy prints in hallways. Just wilful determination to be the change she wanted to see in the world. The agency is now known all over the world with Bella models appearing on ‘World First’ covers and main fashion editorials in publications including Sports Illustrated, Vogue and Elle.
Her book Body Image Warrior is out now and is part memoir and part crusade to bring positive change to the fashion industry and women from all walks of life.
Joining Chelsea on stage will be Mackay speaker Leanne Druery who will share her inspiring story of life changing and creating magic from it.
There will also be truth bomb performers, finger food and the fabulous female fun JSP is known for.
